How to get variables queryID and Result Area in AO same as SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, ResultArea As Range)
Hi Folks,
I am migrating some BEX 3.5 workbooks that contain macros into BusinessObjects Analysis workbooks.
VBA knowledge is rare but I figured out how to call routines after refresh using
Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "RegisterCallback", "AfterRedisplay", "Callback_AfterRedisplay")
Now I attempt to copy the SAPBEXonRefresh code into the Sub Callback_AfterRedisplay() but SAP SAPBEXonRefresh
used queryID and ResultArea as parameters.
As far as I see these are global SAP variables available in BEX but not available in AO.
What are the equivalent functions in AO to get those values so that I can use the functions to fill the variable values and the "old" code can run?
Thanks for all replies in advance,
Axel
ERROR: "The given key was not present in the dictionary"
Hoping someone can help decode this non-descriptive error. I get this when I attempt to insert my analysis view (built on a HANA view) or insert a data source in our QA environment. The error does not occur when I connect to the Dev environment. What did we miss on the server side of things that is causing this to happen?
Thanks!

Is conditional prompt possible with SAP BO AO Excel?
Hi folks,
Is conditional prompt possible i.e the "prompt" should appear only when the measure is used in the report?
Is this kind of feature possible with SAP BO AO on HANA?

Can we restrict all the measures in the output on the initial refresh in AO?
Hi Folks,
Env: AO on SAP HANA
In one of our reports, When we initially refresh the report all the measures get refreshed and shows . Is there a way to restrict from having all the measures being pulled and giving the choice to the user for deciding which measure he wants to see on the initial refresh? Without using any prompts or filters from the model.

BO Analysis standard workbook
Hi all,
we are migrating some BEx workbooks to BO Analysis for office 1.4. As for our first try it worked really good in our opinion. We just have some question regarding the "got to" functionality and standard workbooks.
We created a standard workbook which we used as template for all our BEx reports. After migration we still have all the template look and feel but we want to use that created standard workbook for all our Analysis reports also when we use the "go to"/ "report to report interface" function.
For example:
The user will open a report workbook saved within the BW repository. For further analysis he/she wants to "drill down" to another query. With right click onto the table and selecting the "Go to" functionality the desired query is available as we configured all that within the query designer and the BW. By selecting the query, a new workbook opens without any layout or standard workbook look&feel. Just a new workbook with standard excel layout opens and the query result is entered from cell A1 to xyz.
We would love to have that report opened with a standard look and feel but can not find any way for this. Therefore we would need a template or standard workbook functionality so that every Analysis reports which will open, will have that basis template look&feel.
Could anyone provide help for that issue or is this not available in the Analysis version 1.4?
Many thanks in advance and just the best,
Katja

AO 64-bit crashing in Windows 8.x and Office 2013 64-bit
Hi
I have an interesting issue when testing the 64-bit version of SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 and I have done a comparison/test of the various combinations of Operating Systems, Microsoft Office and SAP BusinessObjects Analysis software to determine the compatibility and below is the results:
64-bit Operating system + Office 32-bit + Analysis 32-bit versions:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2007 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working

The PAM for Analysis for Office 1.4 shows that Windows 8 64-bit is supported:
Checklist:
1. Latest Microsoft Windows 8/8.1 64-bit updates applied
2. Latest Microsoft Office 2013 64-bit updates applied
3. Latest Analysis 1.4 patch applied - Check - Currently on version 1.4 SP7 (Update as of 2014/05/14) I see there is already a note with reference to a hotfix soon to be available.
Retesting still results in the same issues with Windows 8/8.1 and Office 2013 64-bit and Analysis 1.4 SP7 64-bit
Has anyone else encountered this issue(s) before with Windows 8/8.1 and Microsoft Office 2013 64-bit and Analysis for Office 1.4 SP 7 64-bit?

How to use Analysis for Exel in SSO ?
Hello,
For the moment we have only few users which use Analysis for Excel because they have to enter their login & password.
We'd like to install Analysis for Excel for a larger population.
Do you know how to implement SSO in Analysis for Excel (as in BO Web) ?
Thank you in advance

AOSP7 - insert an info field - Effective Filters
Hi
I've just installed AO SP7 (from SP00...) and i found a regression (??) with the insertion of info field 'Effective Filters'.
In SP00, the insertion of info field 'Effective Filters' displayed information about the global filter set in the query designer.
Now (SP7), this info-field 'Effective Filters' displays the same information as info-field 'Variables' which are only filter set by user in the variable pop-up...
Any idea about this issue?
Thanks
Seb
Add text column on crosstab
Hi,
I'd like to know if it's possible to insert a text column betewen two columns. For example, I have a cross tab showing 2 dimentions, one of them the text is "e/3/r/123" which is the key for that member.
What I want to do is insert a column before that one and insert a formula to only show 123 and hide that one that shows the id, is it possible?

Analysis for Office support multi thread?
Does Analysis for Office support multi thread/core? If so, what verison? I tried searching around this site as well as note 1466118 - Hardware & Software requirements for Analysis, edition for MS Officebut was unable to find an answer.
I am on an Intel dual cpu with hyper threading turned on so it essentially looks like 4 cores. When I execute an Analysis View, I rarely see the EXCEL.EXE process go above 25% CPU utilization. I have plenty of RAM and hard drive space.

Empty Rows - is there a way to ignore filter validations
Hi
We are using BOA and Integrated Planning for planning.
In change mode of BOA, when capturing empty rows is there a work around to capture a member eg 0CALDAY(20140630), that is beyond the prompt input for 0CALDAY(20140101) and beyond the filter value for 0CALDAY(20140101).
Scenario - Report was executed for 0CALDAY(20140101) but we need to input a record for (20140630).
When trying to save an error is given:
Value 2014/06/30 of characteristic Calendar Day is not in filter for query (BRAIN-239).
I understand the reason for the error, that it's validating against the prompt/filter, but because I'm entering a new record should I not be able to enter any value? Is there a work around for this?
Alternatively is it possible to have a blank report ready for input in change mode, without it reporting no data selected and no columns displayed and without using a workspace?
Converting BEx workbooks but using on BI Platform
Hi guys,
We are in the process of moving our BEx 3.5 users over to Analysis and the workbook conversion tool works great. But we have hit an issue. To convert the workbook it needs to be saved on the BW server and then converted within Analysis. So we save it to PW1 (our Production BW system) and then convert the workbook. This 'ties' the workbook to PW1. This works OK for users who do not need to go through the BI Platform to log on. So these could be users who have a 'Named' user licence. However, Concurrent users need to log onto the BI Platform to fulfil their licencing requirments. But when they come to refresh a converted (or created for that matter) workbook that is 'locked' to PW1 they don't get the option to log onto the BI Platform - it connects directly to the BW system (but does allow them to refresh the query).
Is anyone aware of a way of detaching a workbook from a system and reconnecting it to another one? I have tried by changing the Data Source name in the Components tab and I am able to choose the same query on a different system. The only trouble with this is that it refreshes the query and resets the data source to the default query design layout - not good!
This is going to be a real stumbeling block for us as we won't be able to have all our users going through the BI Platform route and will end up having a mix of log on methods.
Looking forward to some help from you guys!
Regards and thanks in advance,
Stephen
LogOn LogOff in Analysis?
Hi all
we are using the regular LogOn when refreshing an Analysis Workbook / datasource.
I am aware of the API of Analysis to silently ( no dialog) Login onto BW by providing the
iAppCall = Application.Run("SAPLogon", "DS_1", "MyClient", "MyUser", "MyPWD", "EN")
API call.
In 3tier environment we really need a LogOff functionality, that might allow us to have 3 buttons like:
LogOn DEV
LogOn QA
LogOn Prod
to verify and test query data without closing AO Excel anytime we change the system by just having a LogOff and relogOn via API & VBA
Does anyone know if there is a hidden feature ( @ Victor: maybe you have a hint )
If not I'll add it to the feature list of AO
Best regards
Joerg

Save an Analysis Workbook in the Favorites folder of the BI Launch Pad
Hello,
I've managed to save the a workbook in the "general/public folder" of the BI Launch Pad among other BI reports (e.g Webi reports)
Now I'm trying to save a variant of the workbook where I'm pointing at the Favorite Folders.
No error mesages but I can't find the workbook.
Any ideas why this doesn't work ?

BOA for Office - Analysis Ribbon greys out when a different sheet in the workbook is locked
Here's an interesting bit of behaviour from the Analysis Ribbon: it appears to grey out and lose functionality (apart from the Display function) when another sheet in the workbook is protected:
If I try to operate a filter I get an error message:
Note, I have not protected the sheet holding the query or protected the workbook. I can understand that I would not be able to perform a "Reset Data Source" if I had. But I don't understand why the functionality would shut down if a different sheet in the workbook is protected. The query output is never going to spill over into that other sheet. (Not to my mind anyway).
Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? Is this a feature or a bug? We are using SAP BOA 1.4.7.3073
I discovered this because I want to give a workbook to a group of users and I want to give them an instruction sheet with some screenshots. I want to be able to protect this instruction sheet so that they can't alter the content of the instructions but of course I would like them to be able to run the query on the other sheet, operate filters etc. I can probably work around this but it's a bit annoying that I can't seem to protect any other sheet in the workbook without locking down the query.
It would be good to hear of others' experiences of this.
Thanks.
