Insert Select Data Source not available in Workbook

We are using Analysis for Office 1.4.5.2826. When we open up a macro-enabled workbook that includes 29 tabs and linked worksheets, the only icons that are available are Display, Pause Refresh, Styles and Help. We cannot click on Insert, Select-->  Data Source. One other difference in this workbook is that it uses a Nielsen Add-In to pull additional data.

Does anyone know of any limitations with the tool that would make the functionality not available?

Thank you,

Sarah

Data range in Analysis Office Excel

Hi folks,

I am currently trying to find any specification, if there is a possibility given by SAP Analysis to determine the range object of the crosstable

of the actual datasource.

something like range of DS_1

In BEx it was simple to use the SAP BEx exit and read the myRange object with calculating # of rows or columns

Is there any hidden part in Analysis office as well?

I will try to avoid using Excel last cell or such excal functions if possible.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Hi

I have an interesting issue when testing the 64-bit version of SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 and I have done a comparison/test of the various combinations of Operating Systems, Microsoft Office and SAP BusinessObjects Analysis software to determine the compatibility and below is the results:

64-bit Operating system + Office 32-bit + Analysis 32-bit versions:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2007 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working
Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2010 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working
Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2013 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working
Windows 8 64-bit, Office 2010 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working
Windows 8 64-bit, Office 2013 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working
Windows 8.1 64-bit, Office 2010 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working
Windows 8.1 64-bit, Office 2013 32-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 32-bit = Working

64-bit Operating system + Office 64-bit + Analysis 64-bit versions:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2013 64-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 64-bit = Working
Windows 8 64-bit, Office 2013 64-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 64-bit = Not Working (crashes)
Windows 8.1 64-bit, Office 2013 64-bit, SAP BusinessObjects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP7 64-bit = Not Working (crashes)

The following errors were encountered with the last 2 combinations:
1. - Error: General .NET Exception:
Connect to addin failed; launch file cannot be evaluated.

Resolved by installing the Analysis add-in on the laptop/pc

2. - Error: Error while reading from the registry:
General .NET Exception:
Input string was not in a correct format.

Resolved by settings the Windows Regional settings on the laptop/pc

3. - Error: General .NET Exception:
Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A01A8
   at Microsoft.Office.Core.CommandBarPopup.get_Controls()

Unresolved, a search of SAP OSS Notes found a number of OSS Notes, i.e. 1968330 - AO: Excel freezes or crashes when it is getting closed by the user refers to this error and is resolved in SP6 and SP7 of AO 1.4, however this still occurs in my test with AO 1.4 SP7.

4. - Error: General .NET Exception:
Type mismatch. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020005 (DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH))
   at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Application.get_Selection()

Unresolved, a search of SAP OSS Notes results in no OSS Notes

5. - Error: General .NET Exception:
The remote procedure call failed. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BE)
at System.RuntimeType.ForwardCallToInvokeMember(String memberName, BindingFlags flags, Object target, Int32[] aWrapperTypes, MessageData& msgData)

Unresolved, a search of SAP OSS Notes results in no OSS Notes

The PAM for Analysis for Office 1.4 shows that Windows 8 64-bit is supported:

SBOP Analysis 1.4 PAM.PNG

Checklist:
1. Latest Microsoft Windows 8/8.1 64-bit updates applied
2. Latest Microsoft Office 2013 64-bit updates applied
3. Latest Analysis 1.4 patch applied - Check - Currently on version 1.4 SP7 (Update as of 2014/05/14) I see there is already a note with reference to a hotfix soon to be available.

Retesting still results in the same issues with Windows 8/8.1 and Office 2013 64-bit and Analysis 1.4 SP7 64-bit

Has anyone else encountered this issue(s) before with Windows 8/8.1 and Microsoft Office 2013 64-bit and Analysis for Office 1.4 SP 7 64-bit?

How to get variables queryID and Result Area in AO same as SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, ResultArea As Range)

$

Hi Folks,

I am migrating some BEX 3.5 workbooks that contain macros into BusinessObjects Analysis workbooks.

VBA knowledge is rare but I figured out how to call routines after refresh using

Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "RegisterCallback", "AfterRedisplay", "Callback_AfterRedisplay")

Now I attempt to copy the SAPBEXonRefresh code into the Sub Callback_AfterRedisplay() but SAP SAPBEXonRefresh

used queryID and ResultArea as parameters.

As far as I see these are global SAP variables available in BEX but not available in AO.

What are the equivalent functions in AO to get those values so that I can use the functions to fill the variable values and the "old" code can run?

Thanks for all replies in advance,

Axel

Hello,

Has anyone installed SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP6 on Microsoft Office (Excel) 64-Bit Version. I am getting message "The launcher was not able to connect Analysis Add-In. Make sure that Analysis Add-In is not disabled by Office Application".

When I activated the Analysis Add-In, I am getting below Error: "Excel experienced a serious problem with the 'analysis' add-in." and it is forcing to disable the add-in and asking to check for if any update is available. It was working fine on 32-bit Excel version.

Thanks,

Scheduling Analysis for Office.. Error message: precalculation of instance

Hello together,

We're using:

SAP BusinessObjects BI-Plattform 4.0  SP2 Patch 16 (14.0.2.703)

SAP BusinessObjects Analysis 1.4, , Edition für Microsoft Office - Add-On für BI-Plattform 4.1 (1.4.0.167)

on the Server

and

Analysis for MS Office 1.4 on the client

SSO between the SAP BO 4.0 SP2 Server and the SAP/BW System is enabled.

Now we are trying to schedule a workbook for precalculation and we are getting the following error:

precalculation of instance <number> failed with error 31

I haven't found any hints for that or for another error message for Analysis for MS Office

Running planning sequence and PlanDataSave within one button

$

Dear all,

I'm trying to merge two buttons into only one button. My current solution exists of a validation sequence and a separate "save" button for planned data.

I wanted to trigger the planning sequence via:

lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecutePlanningSequence", "PS_1")

and the saving via (as from the SAP User Analysis Guide)

lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "PlanDataSave")

Unfortunately only either the validation sequence or the saving will be executed (depending on the order).

Below you can find my "full coding" for that specific button:

'Callback for Save data onAction
Sub SAVE(control As IRibbonControl)

Dim lResult As Long

    lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "PlanDataSave")

    lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecutePlanningSequence", "PS_1")

End Sub

I already tried some different approaches with IF-functionality and so on; unfortunately without success.

Does anyone of you have another idea on this?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards

Dominik

Cannot see stored Analysis Excel workbooks

Hi folks

I am currently facing the problem that I can save Workbooks created by Analysis ( version 1.4 SP7) for Office to SAP-BW Server.

The problem I am facing is:

When logging off and / or coming back next day, I cannot open the workbooks.

They appear in Excel ==> Analysis history but clicking the entry will not open the workbook.

As well  search or unfolding the folder / Role where I stored the workbook will not display it.

May it be a matter of authorization( I have SAP_ALL SAP_NEw assigned already !) ?

Analysis is at least telling me in the dialog boc succsesfull saved and I can see the workbooks in the BW tables storing the names as well as in table storing the binary workbook data!

Storing works as it seems but no open / load into Analysis

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

Joerg

Accessing HANA Based Analytics (HANA Live) Query Views from SAP BusinessObjects Analysis

$

Hello,

I am accessing a HANA Live Query View from SAP BusinessObjects Analysis plugin for MS Excel. The connection to the HANA system is successful and the search for the HANA Query View is too.

The Query View in question has an optional input parameter that refers to a variable from another HANA Content Package. When I try to open the Query View in the BusinessObjects Analysis tool, the value for the above mentioned parameter is not filled and I get an error message. That is, the View fails to load.

How can I resolve this error? Is there a way in which Input Parameters referring to variables from other packages can also be pre-filled or bye-passed?

Thanks & best regards,

Akhil

Calling "Display Design Panel" via Macro

$

Dear all,

I'm using a customized planning ribbon, which should allow the user to display the design panel for drag/drop actions. I was not able to find any similar VBA coding in the SAP Analysis User Guide.

For example, I'm using the following coding to trigger the prompt:

'Callback for Selections data onAction

Sub PROMPT(control As IRibbonControl)

Dim lResult As Long

lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand",
"ShowPrompts")

End Sub

Is there anything similar possible for the "display panel"?

Thanks in advance

Dominik

AOSP7 - insert an info field - Effective Filters

$

Hi

I've just installed AO SP7 (from SP00...) and i found a regression (??) with the insertion of info field 'Effective Filters'.

In SP00, the insertion of info field 'Effective Filters' displayed information about the global filter set in the query designer.

Now (SP7), this info-field 'Effective Filters' displays the same information as info-field 'Variables' which are only filter set by user in the variable pop-up...

Any idea about this issue?

Thanks

Date shown as Number or Text in Excel Plugin

Hello,

I have imported a HANA Calculation View inside the BOBJ Analysis Office Exce Plugin. The View has Attributes of type "Dates". Upon the first import, they are displayed correctly.

In the next step, when I add more parameters into rows or columns of my Crosstab, The Date Field format is changed to Number or Pain Text.

How to resolve this?

Best regards,

Akhil
