Save SAP BO Analysis Workbook with Macro within BI Platform

Hello guys,

 

I have a little questions concerning SAP BO Analysis Workbooks.

 

We try to use BI Platform (BI Launch Pad) to save and open workbooks. The BI Launch Pad works fine for workbooks without macros (xlsx format), but when I save a workbook with macro (file format xlsm) it doesn't work. I get the error message that the file format or file extension is invalid. Unfortunately I didn't find any SAP Note or other information.

 

Is there anybody who has got the same problems or anybody with a solution for this.

 

We are using SAP BO Analysis for MS Office with SAP BW 7.0 EHP 1 SP11 and SAP BO 4.0 SP5.

Syntax for entering values "contains pattern"

Hi,

 

Reading the SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office User's Guide on page 82/83 I can see that user can filter values user "contains pattern" with an extra-information "*You can not use these syntax rules for filtering."

We can filter datas with pattern into SAP BW, so users want to have same functionnality with AfOffice (and they don't understand why we can do this before and not in the nex BI tool whereas it's included in User Guide).

 

Does it exist a workaround or any information about a release of this capability ?

 

Environment : Analysis for Office 1.4.2

VBA - Best way to refresh on open (not all queries)

I have an AO template with many queries. However, I only want a specific query to refresh on open. Using SAPExecuteCommand's refresh crashes Excel at times. Is there an ideal way to accomplish this?

 

Reason I'm even doing this is to "initialize" the prompt variables, which apparently requires first refreshing the query. I do not use the prompt dialog but instead use VBA to set the prompts. Before I can set the prompts, I have to force one of the queries to refresh. Kind of a catch 22 situation. Is there anyway to SAPExecuteCommand "initialize variables"? Refreshing the query on workbook open frequently crashes AO/Excel.

Bex Range variable is greyed out when i open the query in Analysis Office

All,

 

I would like to know the behaviour of the bex variable ( 3.5 version) in Analysis office for OLAP 1.4 version.

 

One of my user tried executing the report usind Bex Analyzer and can able to enter the range values for cal month. ex: jan1 2013 to jan 2014. and can able to execute the report.

 

But the same query when we tried to execute in AOLAP, it is behaving as Single value for only this query..

 

But for other queries it is working fine as interval in bex as well as AO.

 

So i would like to know, how will the behavior or funcitionality of the bex variables usgae in AO.

SAPExecuteCommand - Restart is not working

Hi,

I am trying to create a macro that reverts the worksheet to the initial navigation state (after the user has changed it).

According to the AO Manual this can be acheived by using the following code:

 

Dim lResult As Long

lResult= Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "Refresh")

lResult= Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "Restart")

 

As stated in the manual, I have also added the refresh command before the restart, as this seems to be needed.

This command should have the same result as deleting all crosstabs and re-inserting the data sources ->with their original navigation state.

 

It doesn't work! The crosstabs all stay the same, only data is refreshed (twice?). No error message.

I am using Analysis Excel Version 1.3 on top of sap netweaver BW.

 

What am I missing here?

PS: The result I want could also be acheived by these options (that have no VBA CODE equivalent - right?

A) UNDO all steps since opening the workbook

B) Closing the workbook without saving and reopening it.

Maybe somebody had a similar requirement and can help out?

Prompt selection - Missing variables in filter selection

Hey there,

I've got a problem with prompt execution. I opened a workbook with a single query in it. I want to get some data via executing the prompt.

Now there's a warning ( with ID-112003) telling me that not all values can be shown.

I can open the filter view and see some filtered elements.

The problem is that I'm missing a lot more elements there... The list isn't complete...

Some customers are authorized to see a lot of single elements. They aren't gathered under a certain node. So I got a big problem here when the list is shortened to a certain amount.

 

Is there already a resolution for this problem or at least planned?

Failed to launch w. specified file (Analysis for Office)

When I save a workbook from Analysis for Office it appears in the document folder of the Launch Pad.

 

When I try to start the workbook later on from the Launch Pad Excel opens (Which is to be expected)

but a few seconds later the message window appears with the message:

"Could not find Fsqx51IlnwEANDgAAADn8PgAAAwpXi_K document in server."

 

If the message window is closed there comes up a second message:

"Failed to launch with specified file."

 

In the current edition of the error handbook the chapter for "Analysis for Office" is missing,

so a solution can not be found there.

 

Does anybody from you know this problem and is able to provide a solution?

Performance on Analysis for Microsoft Office

Hi,

 

I'm working on Analysis for Microsoft Office, Version 1.4.0.2528.

 

I'm getting data from a DSO in BW. When reading that and inserting the results into the Analysis, it takes a couple of long minutes, while running the same query in BW, with transaction RSRT, it is giving me the results immediately.

 

Any tips on what to look at to improve the Analysis performance?

Filter disabled in Analysis for Office (Powerpoint)

I want to be able to filter my chart in PowerPoint that I inserted from Excel.

In Excel I filtered the chart using a Filter item on the sheet, then I created a slide to send the chart to PP.

In PowerPoint the Filter option is disabled!

 

What are the cases when the filter option is not available??

An Exception Occured when refershing the query

Hello All,

 

Below exception occured for the following two scenarios.

 

  • It occured when i tried to refresh the query.
  • Other Case, exception occured when i enter the user prompts , it was about to refresh and got the same error messageNeed to know, when this type of error message occurs generally " An exception occured in one of the data source " and " Nested Exception".Need your inputs.

defining operator in Analysis for office.

Hi Experts,

 

I have a requirement to put <= operator on calender day field in analysis for office. I'm so use to webi that didn't realize there's no option/feature in analysis that can directly let me select an operator to achieve the results. I'm working on a report that needs all the transactions processed before a certain date.

Is there any way i can use a operator to get the desired results.

 

Let me know if more information is required on this .

Create a BI Analysis Office iView Template

We are in Analysis Office 1.4, BW 7.3 SP9 and Portal 7.3. We can't find
iView template for AO in the Portal according the note 1825429. As confirmed by SAP last week, the iView template doesn't exist yet.

 

We also can't follow the instruction in the note 1799515 to create the
iView template manually. In our portal 7. 3, iView wizard doesn't have
option to create portal component ( step 1 ).

 

Does someone know the detail steps on how to go to - iView Wizard -

Application Technology - Portal component  -create an iView from a portal

component contained in a deployed portal archive (PAR file) in Portal 7.3?

Publish AAO worbooks to Portal w/o creating dedicated iViews per document?

Dear all,

 

we are looking for a possibility to publish analysis office workbooks to the Enterprise Portal without creating for each workbook a dedicated iView.

 

In the past the users used the Bex Browser to access all reports in BW, but launching AAO (and SAP Gui 7.30) we do not have such possibility anymore. A workaround would be to go via the BI platform and a launchpad integration, but we want to use plain BW repository storage for all AAO workbooks in order to be independent on the BI platform.

 

Any suggestions?

After Decimal values got truncated in Olap

Hi Experts,

 

While creating a report on DSO i am pulling whole datasource in analysis for microsoft excel, the problem is some of my after decimal values in measures got trucated.

for eg in dso i have a measure called revenue that is = 13.10333 but when i see the same measure revenue in analysis for Microsoft excel it appearing as

13.10.

Even when i increase the decimal places with "3 decimal places" on analysis it appears as 13.100 but not pulling the exact values after decimal.

It should appear as 13.103.

 

I am on BI 7.x & SAP Analysis 1.4.

Any idea? or i have to change something on DSO end.

Passing parameters to SAPGetData Function from other Excel workbook

Hello,

 

We are using SAPGetData function to derive data from BEX Source in Analysis for office. lets say, i have 100 cells of data to populate and

In each cell i need to pass account, customer ID etc within SAPGetData function.

 

What if i do not want to hard-code these parameter values within SAPGetData function, but i want these values to be referenced from a separate excel workbook.

 

For ex:

 

=SAPGetData("DS_1","Amount CP","ZF_Customer_ID=100","ZF_Account=X000000099U","ZF_Location=US")

 

I do not want to hardcode the values of 100, X000000099U, US in my above example. I want it to reference from another excel workbook ( where these values would be present ).

 

I kind of came across an excel forumla named as INDIRECT, but i am not sure as to how to use that here. Any ideas ?

Moving Office Analysis reports from Quatily to Production enviornment.

Hi Experts,

 

Can somebody walk me through the process of moving Office Analysis reports from one enviornment to the other. All of my reports are saved in a comman folder in Q env. and i'm looking to move these reports to P env. All the queries that these reports are based on have been transported to P enviornment already.

can someone please guide me through this process .

Is it possible to group the dimensions and measures into respective folders in SAP BO Analysis office - excel?

Hi Guys,

 

We can group the similar dimensions or measures into folders in Universe which can be further consumed in other BO reporting tools.

 

Is it possible to do the same while connecting AO with HANA?

 

I want to group similar dimensions and measures so that it comes as respective folders in AO and makes the experience for the user better. Is it possible?

Hi All,

 

Can you please guide me to understand if SSO is possible for SAP BO Analysis Office on SAP HANA.

 

I found this Note: 1846640

 

Which mentions that it is currently not supported .

 

But want to know if there are any latest developments around this and future roadmap for support of SAO BO Analysis Office Excel/OLAP SSO support on SAP HANA?
