Logon to HANA from Analysis for Office

Hi,

 

I have a question on how others have setup the connection to HANA for Analysis for Office. I am wanting to setup end users to access data from HANA using Analysis for Office.

 

According to the Administrator Guide the SAP HANA OLAP connections are currently not SSO compatible.  Also according to the guide an OLAP connection to the Hana database with authentication type Pre-defined cannot work with Analysis for Office because the pre-defined user (and password) is not exposed to local clients such as Analysis.

 

We have HANA Analytic views and Caculation views which we are accessing using Analysis for Office using an OLAP connection defined in the CMC. At the moment the way for users to access the HANA data is to log in to the HANA system through a SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform prompt and then a second login prompt to HANA. This is not a very good solution as users have to go through two prompts entering two user ids and passwords. Also this means that every end user has to have a HANA login as well rather than us being able to setup a pre-defined user in HANA like we can with Analysis for OLAP.

 

I am hoping that someone can shed some light on what a good solution might be.

 

Note:We have native HANA and we don’t have BW on HANA.

Problems with statistics recording in Analysis for Office

I have enabled profiling to record query execution statistics in SAP BW system. The statistics are being recorded but without any technical names. I have also checked the base table RSDDSTAT_OLAP. Here also the issue persists. Does anyone have idea how to solve this?

Stop Analysis Office dynamic chart from reformating after "reset data source"

Hello Community,

 

I've come acoss the following issue, which i want to solve - asking you for comments and help:

 

I have created a workbook holding two data sheets.
The first provides a table with a detailed view on KPIs and a chart. The chart only holds the data from one KPI (also provided in the table).

As want it to stay this way, even after reseting or refreshing the queryfrom the table on that sheet, I inserted a second sheet and assigned the chart's data to this.

 

I did my chart-formating (chart type, colouring and bars-label, saying the key figure (it is a deciam key figure) should be shown without decimals).

Now what happens is, when I reset the data source from the chart's data, the key figure formatting above the bars remains unchanged, showing no decimals. But when I reset the data source from the table that is on the same data sheet, as the chart, the bars labeling changes, to showing decimals.

When I refresh the data source from the chart again, afterwards. The formatting of the bars turn back into showing no decimals.

 

Who can explain this phenomenon or has come across something similar?

Hi Folks,

 

Environment: SAP HANA on AO

 

I have the following scenario , Am creating a report on one Calculation View: CV and have done some analysis where I have pulled in some dimensions and kept some background filters.

 

Now I have to generate the same report on another Calculation View: CV2 ( Similar to structure of CV ) and compare the reports. Is there any way to edit copy the previous report and change the data source? Can you guide me on that?

Analysis for Office 1.4 SSO against HANA through BOBJ

Hi people,

 

Does anyone out there have SSO working on Analysis for Office 1,4 against HANA through BOBJ connections?

 

I have this scenario and we are configuring SSO between BOBJ and HANA with SAML but some notes in the SMP indicates this is not supported yet. Given that the note date from July 2013 I wanted to ask if any of you have made it work. I still don't see any updates on this from SAP.

Error Connection Analysis for MS

Hello Gurus, i need your help

 

I'm trying to connect to a View stored in BI Launch Pad from Analysis for MS, but I get the following error:

 

 

Error in deserializing body of reply message for operation 'Get'.There is an error in XML document (12382, 90).:

Get exception (Error: WBP 99999).

 

I attach the error image.

Enable parallel processing of two data sources when refreshing/ resetting one of them

Hello Community,

 

I've a question regarding refreshing / resetting multiple data sources at the time, the "refresh" is triggered for one data source.

 

The case is, I have a crosstable and chart on one data sheet. the chart refers to a second data source on a second data sheet. I now want to achieve, that at the time i refresh crosstable in the first data sheet, the second crosstable on the second data sheet is refreshed, refreshing also the data in the chart on the first data sheet.

 

I'm sure, some of you have come across this case before. I'd be thankful for your comments.

Could not paste the following strings from the clipboard into presentation mode key

I can run an Analysis query and from the Prompts screen I can Copy and Paste a list of values to 0gl_account without any issue.

 

When I try to use the Display Panel Filter or Filter from the Analysis ribbon and paste the values to the same dimension I get this error message.

The setting "Merge variables" changes the values in the prompt

Dear all,

 

I created a workbook with two queries. These two queries have the same variable: Currency Type.

 

If I don't merge the variables, the prompt for Currency type gives me only a list of posted values (according to the setting in the query designer).

 

After I mergded the variables, the prompt for Currency type shows me all values from the master data table.

 

Is there any settings to change it or it is a bug?

Analysis for Excel Add-in to run automatically when document opens

Hi Experts,


I have an issue with the Analysis add-in.

I am aware of the registry setting that enables the loading of the add-in at Excel startup (which works great by the way), but this is not desired.

My issue is that whenever a user opens up an analysis for Excel document ,and the add-in is not loaded, the document cannot be refreshed. The user then has to activate the add-in and refresh.

Is there a way to embed a code in the Excel document to load the add-in every time it opens (if the add-in is not loaded)? A button in the excel to activate the add-in would also work great.

 

I tried this VBA code, but no luck. I guess it has something to do with the add-in being a COM add-in.

Attribute sort of characteristic

Is it possible to create a sort, or custom sort, of a characteristic's attributes within Analysis? We are seeing that the sequence between BEx and Analysis characteristics is very different. We have a requirement that these be the same for a few reports.

 

Can characteristic sorting be forced from BEx into Analysis? Note: in BW we are getting the correct sequencing/sorting of attributes.

Placing an exception reporting in a crosstable based on a key figure not "visible" in the crosstable

Hello Community,

 

I've come across the above question. As far as I've experienced, this is not possible. not with an exception reporting created in Query Designer, not in Analysis Office "Conditional Formatting".

 

Who can asure my experience or (even better) share different experiences?

Insert Component - Filter: SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources

When we try to add a filter via Insert Component - Filter we get the following error message:

 

"An exception occurred in one of the data sources.

 

SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources. (ID-111007)"

 

"Nested exception. See inner exception below for more details:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

 

We get disconnected and have to close Analysis completely.

 

We are on version 1.3 SP5 (version 1.3.5.2288)

 

What could be the reason for this disconnection?

 

If we filter the same dimension via the Design Panel then we have no issues.

A-Office 7.1 error when try to open a query: Filter: SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources

Hi,

 

I'm facing a issue when try to consume a BW 7.4 query using A-Office 1.4 SP 7 Patch 1.

The error is:

 

Source type \CLASS=CL_RSBOLAP_VARIABLE_CHARACTERI is not compatible, for the purposes of assignment, with target type (RS_EXCEPTION-000)

Passing Parameters to From Design Studio to AO

I am looking to do drill down (or RTR type navigation) from Design Studio to Analysis for Excel.

 

Has anyone attempted? Is this standard or do I have to build custom?

 

As an example I would be looking at my Labor Budget and then would want to jump to a labor report seeing my Employees......


Show attribute without member

In the online version of BW HANA it is possible to display only the attribute without the member.

 

But with Analysis (1.4) for Excel (2010) there is no option in the display menu to hide the view of the member. I use the same report as source.

 

Why can't the member be hidden with the Analysis for Excel add-in?

Favorites screen

Hi,

 

I have just begun with the analysis for excel. Until now I used the Bex 3.x  and I had a favorites sreen where the users had their favorite querys.

 

Now in the new analysis for excel that screen has disappeared.

 

Can anybody tell if it is possible to have a similar screen?

Displaying characteristics

Hi all,

 

I have a query with several characteristics set to No Display in Query Designer. In AO, these come through as greyed out - they can still be added to or removed from the worksheet but I can't see an option to get the values displayed. The Members button only gives the usual Key/Text options - in Web Analyzer you also get the option to turn the display on or off.

 

Does anybody know whether this is possible to change during AO runtime or do I have to revert back to Query Designer and do it there? (this would be a big backward step in my view as it involves re-transporting the query).

Analysis for Office support multi thread?

Does Analysis for Office support multi thread/core? If so, what verison? I tried searching around this site as well as note 1466118 - Hardware & Software requirements for Analysis, edition for MS Officebut was unable to find an answer.

 

I am on an Intel dual cpu with hyper threading turned on so it essentially looks like 4 cores. When I execute an Analysis View, I rarely see the EXCEL.EXE process go above 25% CPU utilization. I have plenty of RAM and hard drive space.

 

64bit Windows 7

32bit Office 2010

AAO 1.3.5.2288

is it possible to open a Analysis for Office Document with the Open Document Syntax. I want to "jump" from a Design Studio dashboard to the Analysis for Office document. Additionally, the parameters that have been set in the Design Studio dashboard should also be set with the initial start of the Analysis for Office document.
