Analysis: How to open a query in display mode and switching to input ready via macro?

Hi everybody,

 

for our customer we created a simple planning sheet with Analysis in MS Office 2010.

Everythink works fine but we do not want the workbook to open the query in change mode.

The user should be able to switch to change mode using a button on the sheet.

Unfortunately we need to set on the Design Panel the mark to open the query in the input ready mode.

So first user blocks all others. Settings special filters or authoriziation is not an option here.

 

Opening the workbook only in display mode and trying to switch to change mode using

 

Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "PlanDataToChangeMode")

 

does not work.

 

I get a result 14, "Command PlanDataToChangeMode is not enabled".

 

How can I enable the command, without using the Design Panel?

AO 1.4 SP11 - Query Designer does not open

Hello Community,

 

we are currently using AO 1.4 SP11 with SAP GUI 7.30. AO is used with BIP and Netweaver.

 

Now we are testing the upgrade to SAP GUI 7.40 and on different clients it is not possible to start the Query Designer from AO. But this does only happen with Netweaver connections.

 

Steps to reproduce

 

AO 1.4 SP11 / SAP GUI 7.40 PL2

 

Netweaver

 

1. Open AO and connect to Netweaver system

2. Insert a query and try to open the Query Designer -> Nothing happens (No error message even in the debugging log)

 

BIP

 

1. Open AO and connect to BIP

2. Insert a query and start the query designer -> Works as expected

 

saplogon.ini is correctly configured. When we uninstall SAP GUI 7.40 then everything works as expected. Issues does also occur with AO 2.0 FP2.

 

Do you have any ideas?

Exclude multiple single values in filter screen of dimensions

Hello -

 

In BEx Analyzer it is possible to exclude a bunch of single values in a single shot. But I do not see a similar option in Analysis for office where i have to manually exclude 1 selection at a time!

 

Is there a way to accomplish this in the filter screen?

Scheduling Analysis for Office - Success but nothing emailed

We have BusinessObjects 4.1 SP5, Patch 1 with Analysis for Office 1.4.10 BIP Add-On installed. When we schedule a workbook to be delivered via email the job completes with a status of "success" but it never ends up at the destination. We are able to schedule Webi reports to be delivered via email successfully.

 

Scheduling the workbook does work if my destination is BI Inbox.

 

I have reviewed SAP Note 2134836 and I believe we have the environment configured correctly.

 

Has anyone else had this issue?

Lock cells by using a client macro

Hi all.

 

I have an Analysis workbook including an input enabled query.

I would like to lock cells based on their value rather than on characteristics relationship (data slice). I thought about creating a macro for locking cells by using same functionality as in AO standard button "lock cells".

But I could not find any API function in AO documentation and I wonder if anyone has achieved this same behaviour.

 

As SAP states in SAP Note 1236347 "Analysis Office and BEx Web Analyzer allow locking6 input-ready cells. A locked cell is a feature that is administered completely in ‘client’", therefore it has to be a way to call this standard macro but I did not find it.

How to execute "Lock Cells" button through VBA Macro?

Dear all,

 

The requirement is to lock input-ready cells on a Excel button click. We don't want to use the standard "Lock Cells" button provided in Planning Ribbon.

 

Button functionality is implemented in VBA Macro, But i am not able to find any information on How to trigget the AFO "Lock Cells" there. An option of Excel Locking is possible, but it only works when we protect the whole worksheet and in our case it is useless.

 

Any ideas?

Error Reading Data of Info Provider

Hello All,

 

I have some workbooks in Analysis for Excel, on top of some input enabled Bex queries.

These Bex queries are built on an Aggregation Level.

 

And sometimes, i get attached error when entered data is saved/recalculated :

 

- An exception occured in one of the data sources

- Nested exception

- Data was saved

- Error while reading the data of Infoprovider ZXXXX

- Error while reading data ; navigation is possible

- Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method; uncaught_exception

 

 

I could not find a reason or permanent solution yet, however activating multiproviders by program helps to eliminate this error, and allows data entry again. And, same query does not give same error when i test in RSRT, it is specific to AO

 

Interestingly, it really happens randomly, so i have no idea how to reproduce the error again. If any of you faced this problem before, could you please give me any idea?

 

AO Version : 1.3.10 Patch 1.

BW Version : 7.4 SP9

Hi,

 

I have created a report in analysis for Microsoft office version 1.4 based on hana calculation view.

 

The version of hana is SP8 , revision 82. It is a ODBC connection between AO and HANA.

 

There is a parent-child hierarchy created at calculation view side.


So now the issue is, In AO the hierarchy is being displayed at least child instead of parent node.

 

And the measure values are coming as error in AO. Attached the screen shot.

 

Could some one please help me on this.

Issues with Analysis for Office in Citrix environment

Hello,

 

is anyone using Analysis for Office in Citrix environment?

We have an issue while opening Analysis Workbooks from BI Launchpad.

Analysis for office starts - unfortunately without opening the Workbook. I can test the functionality directly on BO-Windows-Servers - which is working fine. So I suppose this must be Citrix related.

 

Are there any specific "Citrix" settings? Admin Guide isn't very helpful in this issue.

Hello All,

 

I am using SAPSetVariable to set the date for a member across several datasources:

 

Application.Run("SAPSetVariable", "Period/Fiscal Year", "<=" & varPerFiscal, "INPUT_STRING", "DS_1")

 

 

 

I have one datasource that a member requires input for start date and end date.  Could someone help me with the argument structure for populating two variables?

Filter By Member is not displaying more than 100 values for a week

Hello ,

 

We have a scenario where Year is in filter for query. Each year has 52 weeks which is based on 0fiscper.

If user selects one year Example 2015 or 2014 it displays all 052 weeks in filter for week.

But if user enters two years 2015 and 2014 we have in total 104 weeks and filter displays only first 100 values.Last 4 values are not available to filter.

 

Can anyone help me how to amend this setting to get all 104 values. We don't want to use Access Mode values in master data.

 

We are currently on 1.4.11.

Global Variant Analysis for Office

Hi - has anyone had luck saving and then have another user recalling a Global Variant, all within Analysis for Office?  Below I save a variant and save the workbook and send to someone.  They do not see the global variant.  Am I not using this right?

 

I am using A4O 1.4.8

New Row functionality

Hello. I have a question regarding the New Row functionality available within version 2.0. I also have SP2 installed.

 

Once I insert a new row I am entering data into the blank cells. However, once i perform any type of navigation the data (numeric or text) I enter disappears. Perhaps this is by design. Therefore, I am trying to determine what is the benefit of having a new row if I cannot enter anything into it? Or, am I doing something wrong?

 

Any insight on this new functionality is greatly appreciated.

workbooks having huge data set, AO possible solution?

We have recently migrated our BW workbooks from 3x to 7x and we are encountering issues upon executing workbooks having huge data set.


Upon contacting SAP and going thru Note 1411545 & 1040454 understood that there is a limitation set for 7x analyzer

 

Workbooks which business users are using has 98+Columns and 20,000+ Rows which makes it more than 2Million data cells OR 1.2GB Memory as
per calculation.

 

 

 

Can we achieve this with BO + AO (64 Bit version)?

I am pretty sure the answer is NO, but can both 2.0 and 1.X be installed on a workstation? And independently invoked?

Logon to HANA from Analysis for Office

Hi,

 

I have a question on how others have setup the connection to HANA for Analysis for Office. I am wanting to setup end users to access data from HANA using Analysis for Office.

 

According to the Administrator Guide the SAP HANA OLAP connections are currently not SSO compatible.  Also according to the guide an OLAP connection to the Hana database with authentication type Pre-defined cannot work with Analysis for Office because the pre-defined user (and password) is not exposed to local clients such as Analysis.

 

We have HANA Analytic views and Caculation views which we are accessing using Analysis for Office using an OLAP connection defined in the CMC. At the moment the way for users to access the HANA data is to log in to the HANA system through a SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform prompt and then a second login prompt to HANA. This is not a very good solution as users have to go through two prompts entering two user ids and passwords. Also this means that every end user has to have a HANA login as well rather than us being able to setup a pre-defined user in HANA like we can with Analysis for OLAP.

 

I am hoping that someone can shed some light on what a good solution might be.

 

Note:We have native HANA and we don’t have BW on HANA.

Analysis Office compatibility with GUI 7.40 / NWBC 5.0?

Dear all,

 

after my first tests I have the impression that Analysis Office (1.4.9) is not compatible with the new system definition file format SAPUILandscape.xml. This format is activated as soon as NWBC 5.0 is added to a SAP-GUI 7.40 installation.

My searches for infirmation on this subject were not successful.

Is there any official statment or support note on that which I might have missed? Anybody sharing this experience?


This also is a warning not to check all checkboxes in the GUI 7.40 installation options without prior thinking about this. NWBC 5.0 is included in the GUI 7.40 installation package.

Display Text and Key of Hierarchy-Variable values not possible

Hallo all,

 

in a query we use an hierarchy variable. If we use BEx Analyzer 7.0 we have the possibility to display text AND key of the different values.

 

In BO (2.0.2.3622) this isn't possible. Also in BO 1.4 we hadn't this possibility ...

 

I hope you understand what i mean
